Picassian bullfight

Every year, bullfighting enthusiasts and art lovers are given the chance to witness something quite unique: the Corrida Picassiana (Picassian Bullfight).

Lasting around two hours, this event combines the tradition of bullfighting with the artistry of Malaga-born Pablo Picasso.

During the Picassian Bullfight, expect to see bullfighters dressed in costumes inspired by Picasso’s art, with colourful and abstract designs.

What’s more, the La Malagueta arena will be decorated with Picasso-inspired artwork, creating a visually striking environment.

Operatic choreography

One interesting aspect of this bullfight is the presence of an opera orchestra in the stands. They’ll play music related to Picasso’s themes, adding a unique musical touch to the event.

While the basic elements of a bullfight remain, such as the interaction between the matador and the bull, you’ll notice artistic influences in the choreography and overall presentation.

In short, the Picassian Bullfight offers a creative twist on a traditional Spanish event, blending bullfighting with the artistic legacy of one of Spain’s most famous painters.

The 2024 Corrida Picassiana

The 2024 edition of the Picassian Bullfight will take place on Saturday 30 March from 5.30pm.

Tickets from the show can be purchased here.
