Hermanos Alba

Tucked away in the charming seaside district of El Palo, Hermanos Alba stands as one of Malaga’s most celebrated seafood restaurants.
This family-run establishment has earned serious culinary credentials, featuring in the prestigious Repsol Guide and ranking 14th among informal restaurants in the Opinionated About Dining (OAD) guide.
The restaurant gained extra celebrity appeal when Malaga-born singer Pablo Alborán dined here recently, praising it as being “next to the beach with amazing prawns”, as reported in El Español.
Fresh seafood straight from Andalusian waters
Founded in the 1980s by Manolo Alba and his brothers, the restaurant moved to its current location on Avenida Salvador Allende in 2015.
The family still runs the show, with Manolo in the kitchen and his son Juanma front of house, maintaining their reputation for exceptional seafood sourced from the fish markets of Caleta de Vélez and Motril.
The menu celebrates Andalusian coastal cuisine with everything from fried fish (frituras) to grilled specialities and raw preparations.
Star dishes include local coquinas (small clams), quisquillas (brown shrimp) with blue roe, and magnificent carabineros (scarlet prawns).
Don’t miss the legendary ensaladilla rusa
Their warm ensaladilla rusa (Russian salad) is considered among Malaga’s finest, featuring Motril prawns, chopped chives and carrot.
This signature dish was even a finalist in Spain’s National Russian Salad Championship, proving that sometimes the simplest dishes require the most skill.
Located just steps from the beach in the traditional fishing neighbourhood of El Palo, it’s the perfect spot to experience authentic Málaga flavours with sea views.
