Verum Restaurante, El Asador de Málaga

Interior of Verum Asador in Málaga, a steakhouse with rustic decor, dining tables and meat display fridges

Meat devotees will find their spiritual home at Verum, affectionately dubbed ‘The Temple of Meat’ by locals who know a proper steak when they see one.

Located in Cerrado de Calderón, just a 10-minute drive from Malaga city centre, this elegant restaurant sits atop a hill overlooking the Mediterranean coastline, where fresh sea breezes mingle with the aroma of oak-fired grills.

Premium beef cuts grilled to perfection

The star attraction here is undoubtedly the beef, with premium cuts including Aberdeen Angus, Limousin and Charolais breeds grilled over oak wood logs that impart a distinctive smoky flavour.

Depending on the season, you might encounter indulgent A5 Wagyu or Premium Galician Beef Tenderloin – each cut carefully selected and prepared by knowledgeable staff who genuinely understand their craft.

Beyond beef, the kitchen excels with suckling lamb and pig, both slow-cooked until they practically fall off the bone, plus seasonal hearty stews and game dishes available Monday to Thursday.

Fresh seafood and award-winning tapas

When wild bluefin tuna (atún rojo) is in season, it’s absolutely unmissable. Verum prides itself on using every part of the fish, from grilled tuna chops to delicate tail tartare.

The extensive tapas menu (small plates perfect for sharing) includes their award-winning Russian salad, as well as plenty of options for vegetarians who fancy something beyond the usual suspects.

Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the seemingly endless list of bottles, with staff happy to suggest perfect pairings for whatever lands on your plate.

The restaurant features a cosy outdoor terrace plus two pleasant indoor dining areas, all wrapped in elegant wood-laden décor that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.
